Awards

Elder Watson Diggs – “Personal Achievement Award

The Elder Watson Diggs Award is one of the highest awards available to a member of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Inc. It is important that the petition be accurate, factual, concise and convincingly supported by exhibits. Exhibits may consist of copies of newspaper articles, copies of certificates and awards and letters of acknowledgement, etc. Scrapbooks, photo albums, videotapes should not be included as exhibits. The original petition must be sent to International Headquarters and postmarked within fourteen (14) days of the end of the Province Council.

Byron K. Armstrong Scholars Award – “Personal Achievement Award

The Byron K. Armstrong Scholars Award is the only Grand Chapter award available to undergraduate members of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Inc. for outstanding achievement. A Brother nominated for this award must 1) be matriculating for an undergraduate degree, and 2) be eligible for graduation in the term immediately preceding or during the period that the Province Council is being held. The candidate’s grade point average
must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. It is important that the typed petition be factual and concise. The Achievement Commission will review all petitions and recommend the three (3) top scholars to the Grand Board for approval. The top scholar (summa cum laude) will receive a plaque and a monetary award of $1,000; the second-place finisher (magna cum laude) will receive a plaque and $750; and the third-place finisher (cum laude) will receive a plaque and $500. The original petition must be sent to International Headquarters and postmarked within fourteen (14) days of the end of the Province Council.

Guy Levis Grant Award – “Personal Achievement Award

The Guy Levis Grant Award is one of the highest awards available to an undergraduate member of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Inc. It is important that the petition be accurate, factual, and concise, and convincingly supported by exhibits. Exhibits may consist of copies of newspaper articles, copies of certificates and awards, letters of acknowledgement, etc. Scrapbooks, photo albums, videotapes should not be included as exhibits. The original petition must be sent to International Headquarters and postmarked within fourteen (14) days of the end of the Province Council.

Edward Giles Irvin Undergraduate Chapter of the Year Award – “Chapter Achievement Award

The Edward G. Irvin Undergraduate Chapter of the Year Award is the highest Grand Chapter award available to undergraduate chapters for outstanding achievement. The undergraduate chapters nominated must have at least seven (7) members who are financial with the undergraduate chapter, Province, and Grand Chapter. The original petition must be sent to International Headquarters and postmarked within fourteen (14) days of the end of the Province Council.

Paul W. Caine Alumni Chapter of the Year Award – “Chapter Achievement Award

The Paul W. Caine Alumni Chapter of the Year Award is the highest Grand Chapter award available to alumni chapters for outstanding achievement. The alumni chapters nominated must have at least ten (10) members who are financial with the alumni chapter, Province, and Grand Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Inc. at the time of filing the application. The original petition must be sent to International Headquarters and postmarked within fourteen (14) days of the end of the Province Council.

Ronald R. Young Website of the Year

Each province shall select one alumni and one undergraduate chapter in the Small, Medium
and Large chapter category if applicable, to receive its award for “Province Website of the Year.”

ECP Chapter of the Year

Awarded to alumni chapter for outstanding achievement.

Grants / Scholarships

Senior Kappa Endowment Fund Grant

The maximum award per chapter per grant per year is $ 1000. Grant monies will be dispersed by the KAPPA Foundation. A Chapter can receive only one Grant a year. A schedule, including actual dates of Grant activities must be included with each submittal. Grants are for community service tax code 501 C3 activities. Requests for grants from the SKAEF must emanate from local chapter Senior Kappa Affairs Committee chairmen. All submittals will be considered for funding but there should be no expectation that all submittals will be approved. It is also required that grant funds are not used to fund activities that solely or directly benefit Brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. ONLY ONE (1) INITIATIVE PER SUBMISSION IS ALLOWED!
MULTIPLE INITIATIVES WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED.
